Student Sacha Jarron holds award

Birmingham Metropolitan College students studying at Kidderminster Academy have celebrated the end of a successful year along with staff, friends and family at a special Graduation Ceremony.

Students studying Hospitality & Culinary Arts, Games & APPS Design, Fashion, Design & Retail, Business, Legal & Administration, Samsung Technology, Interactive Media Technology and A Levels were invited to the awards event where students were presented with certificates and Learner of the Year Awards in recognition of their efforts, achievements and successes over the year.  Guests were treated to cup-cakes, chocolate lollipops, candy floss and a chocolate fountain.

Jane Smith, Campus Head at Kidderminster Academy, said:  “It’s a real pleasure for us to celebrate student achievements at our annual Graduation Ceremony and, in particular, it’s great to see parents, carers and guardians joining in with the celebrations.  Our students work very hard throughout the year and it’s rewarding for our staff to see them reach their potential when they complete their learner journey.”

Learners of the Year were Sascha Jarron, Hospitality & Culinary Arts; Shakeil Lyken, Business, Legal & Administration; Rosie Higgs, Fashion, Design & Retail and Jonathan Baynton for Samsung Technologies.  Student of the Year 2014 was Hospitality & Culinary Arts student, Sascha Jarron, who ‘talks to customers with ease and completes tasks with style and grace, proving to be a great support for fellow team members, providing motivation and reassurance when needed.’

Sascha, 20 from Kidderminster, said:  “I was really surprised to pick up the Student of the Year Award – especially as I had already won Hospitality Learner of the Year!  I’ve really enjoyed my course and studying at Kidderminster Academy has really helped me focus on what I really want to do in the future.  I’ve applied to university to study Hospitality & Events Management and will be looking at working in the industry when I’m fully qualified.”
