Training opportunities showcased to employers
The increasing use of social media to help make businesses thrive within their local areas was discussed at the new Kidderminster Academy’s first two events held for employers. Hospitality, catering, retail and fashion industry employers attended breakfast events hosted by the Academy to find out more about the skills training that will be available at the new building at Weavers Wharf in September.
“The events have been our first real opportunity to liaise directly with local employers about the skills and expertise their staff can develop both in the workplace and in our state of the art facilities,” commented Mustafa Shevket, Head of the Kidderminster Academy.
“Not only will our learners gain the requisite qualifications to develop their careers, we will also be encouraging them to use new technologies and social media channels to help them deliver customer service, enterprise and best practice for local businesses.
“Whether its video footage of practical food demonstrations, stunning fashion and clothing accessories presented on photo-sharing websites, or the creation of personalised mobile phone apps; our Academy will encourage all our learners to gain the skills and knowledge behind these essential business promotion and communication tools.”
The Academy at Kidderminster is a partnership between Birmingham Metropolitan College and Kidderminster College. It will deliver a full range of qualifications in enterprise and entrepreneurship, hospitality and culinary arts, fashion, retail and visual merchandising as well as electronics and SMART digital technologies and marketing and professional studies.
