Dental Nursing
Building on the excellent quality of dental provision offered at Birmingham Metropolitan College the Medical Directorate is extending its offer to the Kidderminster academy. Working with local Dentist’s to develop an educational experience that will lead to a long term professional career.
Dentistry offers a range of career opportunities in hospital environments, general dental practices, specialist clinics and community projects. There are over 22,000 dental nurses registered with the General Dental Council in the UK. This body regulates the professional roles associated with dentistry.
Recent advancements in technology make dentistry one of the most interesting medical professions. This provides new challenges to those employed in the sector and it is a requirement of the GDC that qualified individuals continue to professionally develop throughout their careers. Progression into higher education is encouraged and dental nursing provides access into additional roles including Hygiene and Therapy, Implantology and research.
The diploma in dental nursing meets the learning requirements of registration and this develops the learner’s practical and professional skills so they are ready for employment post qualification. Students will work alongside professional dentists throughout their studies to gain the skills, knowledge and experience of working in a clinical environment within a dental team.
